The new posters for Disney’s Maleficent confirm what we already knew: Angelina Jolie looks perfect as the Sleeping Beauty villainess. Filling nearly the entire US and UK posters, Jolie is malevolently striking as the iconic baddie.

The naturally sharp angles of the actress’ face are perfectly accentuated to give Maleficent that hardened edge. The pale skin makes the perfect backdrop for Jolie’s sparkling green eyes and ruby lips to jump out at you. This is particularly apparent in the more colorful (and let’s face it, more interesting) UK poster.
Maleficent is Disney’s reimagining of the well known wicked woman from the studio’s own 1959 Sleeping Beauty film. Taking a page from Wicked, the Jolie movie presents the untold story about the Mistress of All Evil, perhaps inspiring our sympathy rather than our contempt.
“The exercise wasn’t, ‘How can we have fun with a villain?’” Jolie said on Digital Spy. “It was, ‘What turns people evil and vile and aggressive and cruel? What could have possibly happened to her?’”
Due out May 30, the film features Elle Fanning as Aurora to Jolie’s Maleficent. Juno Temple, Sharlto Copley, Peter Capaldi and Brenton Thwaites will also star.
